A charity managed by Ashley Biden, daughter of former President Joe Biden, is facing scrutiny following a complaint alleging failures to properly report donations to the Internal Revenue Service. The National Legal and Policy Center, a conservative watchdog group, filed the complaint, claiming that the Women’s Wellness Spa(ce) did not disclose $500,000 in contributions it received in 2023.
Ashley Biden launched the Women’s Wellness Spa(ce) in Philadelphia during her father’s presidency. The organization was established as a walk-in trauma recovery center aimed at helping women address mental health challenges. According to IRS 990 forms filed by other organizations, the Women’s Wellness Spa(ce) received two major contributions of $250,000 each from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and the Archewell Foundation, which Prince Harry and Meghan Markle founded.
Despite those external disclosures, the filings submitted by the Women’s Wellness Spa(ce) for 2023 reported only $170,296 in total income and indicated that no single contribution exceeded $5,000. Ashley Biden signed the 990 form under penalties of perjury. The National Legal and Policy Center is calling for a full IRS investigation into the charity’s finances and has asked the agency to examine whether there are additional unreported contributions.
Paul Kamenar, attorney for the National Legal and Policy Center, stated that the failure to disclose the $500,000 donation raises further questions about the organization’s financial transparency. He called for the IRS to investigate whether additional contributions were hidden and to consider possible sanctions if wrongdoing is found.

Greg Mangasarian, an accountant for the Women’s Wellness Spa(ce), responded to the allegations, explaining that the organization only received $150,000 in 2023 and that the remainder of the $500,000 would be reported on the 2024 tax forms. Mangasarian also clarified that the organization uses the accrual method of accounting, which generally requires that income be reported when earned, not necessarily when received. He stated that the financial reporting would comply with IRS regulations.
The complaint against Ashley Biden comes amid continued public focus on the financial dealings of the Biden family. In 2024, Hunter Biden, Ashley’s brother, was charged with tax fraud before receiving a full and unconditional pardon from President Biden, covering allegations of concealed income over an 11-year period. Other Biden family members, including James and Sarah Biden, were also pardoned in connection with related financial matters. Ashley Biden was not included in those pardons.
The Women’s Wellness Spa(ce) continues to operate, and the IRS has announced no enforcement action regarding the recent complaint. The organization’s 2024 filings are expected to reflect the additional donations, and observers are waiting to see whether the IRS will move forward with an investigation.
The IRS and the National Legal and Policy Center have not announced any timelines for resolution. Ashley Biden and representatives for the Women’s Wellness Spa(ce) have not provided additional comments beyond Mangasarian’s statements regarding the charity’s accounting practices.
The situation remains ongoing as regulatory agencies review the financial documents and allegations presented.
