After the Kansas City Chiefs clinched the Super Bowl title, a middle schooler from Dallas, an avid Chiefs supporter named Elijah Smith, is not happy.
Elijah had a piece of memorabilia that holds a special place in his heart. For him, it was a custom-made Chiefs luchador wrestling mask. It’s not just any mask, though; Elijah believes it’s his good luck charm, having worn it for all four Chiefs championships.
Now, here’s where the story takes a turn for the surreal. Elijah and his family spot none other than Jason Kelce, the former Philadelphia Eagles center, amidst the celebrations. Seizing the moment, Elijah asks Kelce to take a photo with him, wearing his prized luchador mask. Kelce, being the good sport that he is, obliges. According to Elijah, they shared a brief moment of joy, dancing and celebrating together. But then, as quickly as he appeared, Kelce, still donning the luchador mask, takes off into the Vegas night.
You can imagine the panic that set in for Elijah. This wasn’t just any mask; it was his lucky charm. And now, it was out there, somewhere in the aftermath of the Super Bowl chaos, with Jason Kelce.
Kelce, living up the victory in Vegas, seemingly became the life of the party with Elijah’s mask, a transformation he himself credited to the mask during an episode of his “New Heights” podcast with brother Travis Kelce. “There’s something about finding that luchador mask that really just transformed the night,” Jason mused.
He claimed he found it on the floor.

Despite the wild turn of events and Jason’s shoutout—apologizing to the mask’s owner during his dance floor domination—the Smith family’s plea is simple: they just want the mask back. Elijah’s dad put it plainly to NBC, “The only thing is, Jason, if you’re listening, we just need the mask back before the season starts. It’s a lucky mask, and so the Chiefs need the luck. I’m sorry we’re not Eagles fans.”
At one point Jason was on the dance floor and apologized but still never gave it back.
