In a surprise twist during Green Day’s performance at Comerica Park in Detroit, the band was forced to abruptly run off stage mid-song due to a drone threat.
The band was in the middle of their hit “Longview” when someone sprinted onto the stage, prompting Billie Joe Armstrong and the rest of the group to quickly follow suit and flee. Video footage captured the chaos, with fans left wondering what exactly was going on.

Green Day addressed the situation later, explaining what happened via a post: “Detroit! Sorry for the delay in the show tonight, Stadium security had us clear the stage while they dealt with a potential safety issue. DPD quickly resolved the situation, and we were able to continue. Thanks for understanding.”

As it turns out, a rogue drone had flown into Comerica Park, causing security concerns. According to Detroit Police Department spokesman Cpl. Dan Donakowski, the individual responsible for flying the drone was located and detained. The concert pause, lasting about 10 minutes, saw large screens displaying a “Show Pause” message as police dealt with the incident.

Reports indicate that the drone was spotted hovering above just before the band hurried off stage, leaving fans in suspense. However, once the situation was under control, the show went on. In true Green Day fashion, Billie Joe Armstrong returned to the stage with defiant energy, declaring, “no motherf*ckers are gonna keep us down!”—a line that brought the crowd roaring back to life.
Thanks to quick action from the Detroit Police Department, the show resumed without further issues, and Green Day delivered the rest of their performance, proving that even a drone scare couldn’t stop the punk rock legends from rocking out in the Motor City.
