Popular late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert has been forced to cancel a week of his show, “The Late Show,” due to a major surgery he recently underwent. In a post on his show’s website, Colbert announced that he had to cancel the shows this week as he recovers from surgery for a ruptured appendix.

Colbert, known for his sharp wit and comedic timing, reassured his fans that he was ok and made light of the situation by joking that all emails to his appendix will now be handled by his pancreas. He also thanked his doctors for their care and his family for putting up with him during his recovery.

The canceled shows were slated to feature guests such as Jennifer Garner, Baz Luhrmann, Patrick Stewart, and Kelsey Grammer. The shows were also set to feature the return of former bandleader Jon Batiste and Barbra Streisand taking “The Colbert Questionert.” Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a little longer to see these highly anticipated episodes.

This is not the first time Colbert has had to cancel shows since the return of his show in early October. In mid-October, the host announced that he had contracted COVID-19 and had to cancel a week’s worth of shows. He did, however, host one show from his home, as he did during the height of the pandemic.

Colbert returned to the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York on October 2nd to an enthusiastic audience. He expressed his excitement at the end of the writers’ strike and the protection the new contract includes, thanks to the picket lines.

Fans were eagerly anticipating the return of the show and were disappointed to hear the news of another setback. However, many took to social media to wish Colbert a speedy recovery and to express their support for the host.
