Before his disappearance, police in Lawrence, Kansas, reported that Brings Plenty was last seen driving his Ford Explorer SUV south from the city center after an alleged domestic violence incident. This information spurred a widespread search effort, accentuated by his family’s involvement and public appeals for assistance. Among those leading the call for his safe return was his uncle, Moses Brings Plenty, also an actor known for his roles in Yellowstone’s “1923.”

Moses utilized social media to amplify the search for Cole, sharing missing person fliers and expressing skepticism about the allegations of domestic violence against his nephew. He also raised doubts about the likelihood of his nephew fleeing.

As the search intensified, Lawrence police confirmed they were actively following leads and had been in contact with the family. An affidavit supporting an arrest warrant for Cole Brings Plenty had been filed, though details remained confidential pending formal charges.

Cole Brings Plenty’s untimely death is a profound loss not only to his family but also to the wider community that had come to know him through his work on “1923.” His father, Joe Brings Plenty, released a statement acknowledging the outpouring of support and love for his son, reflecting on the many who recognized and cherished Cole’s innate goodness.
