Deputies with the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department in Williamsburg, Kentucky were able to successfully locate a wanted fugitive on Friday due to the help of a brave and honest toddler.
The deputies arrived at a home in the area to serve a warrant for 45-year-old Tina Hicks, who had outstanding drug charges and other warrants. The adults in the home refused to answer when the officers asked whether Hicks was present, with one saying she didn’t know and another claiming she lived down the road.

At this point, the toddler stood up and said, “It is good to be honest … we shouldn’t lie.” He then informed deputies that the woman was hiding inside the room next to the bathroom. The deputies found the wanted woman exactly where the toddler said she’d be, according to Deputy Brentley Patrick.
At one point, the toddler looked to one of the adults and said “You’re the one that told me not to lie.”
Deputy Patrick said that the child and his family had been visiting from out of town. The sheriff’s department wrote on Facebook that the child was a “very brave and honest toddler.” Hicks was served with two outstanding warrants on charges of possession of meth and drug paraphernalia, as well as four other outstanding warrants.
The deputies commended the toddler for his integrity and service to the community. Deputy Patrick said that the child was visiting the home and was not in any danger, as he was healthy, intelligent, and in no way appeared to be abused.
The toddler “stood up, put his hands on his hips, and stated ‘It is good to be honest … we shouldn’t lie, she is inside the room next to the bathroom!’” according to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department. https://t.co/OpPmKeYRjp
