A recent episode of the beloved game show Jeopardy! has sparked quite the reaction online. It seems that this time, the contestants struggled with some sports-related questions, much to the chagrin of viewers.

During Tuesday night’s episode, contestants Travis Kissire, Christina Paul, and Adriana Harmeyer found themselves stumped by a series of questions in the 21st Century Sports category. The awkward moment began when host Ken Jennings asked for $400: “In 2007 this NL squad became the first team with 10,000 losses; in 2008 they won the World Series behind Cole Hamels and Ryan Howard.”

Christina buzzed in confidently with, “Who are the Chicago Cubs?” Unfortunately, the correct answer was the Philadelphia Phillies, who clinched the World Series title against the Tampa Bay Rays on October 29, 2008.

The mistake didn’t go unnoticed by viewers, who quickly took to social media to express their disbelief and, of course, share a bit of humor at the contestants’ expense. One viewer on X (formerly Twitter) joked, “There is nothing better than when the incredibly smart people on Jeopardy! don’t know something that all of us unwashed sports slobs know.”

The Philly sports blog, Crossing Broad, chimed in with a pointed remark: “No respect for the 2008 World Series Champ on Jeopardy! tonight.” Another user humorously declared, “They are permanently banned from Philadelphia.”

The flub continued to resonate with fans of the show and sports enthusiasts alike. “Devastated no one knew the @Phillies on @Jeopardy!” lamented one fan, while another simply stated, “We need more sports fans on Jeopardy!

Look if you are going to pick the category you should probably make sure you know it.
