Travis Kelce is giving us the play-by-play of his US Open experience, and it’s as entertaining as you’d expect. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end made headlines for his recent outing with none other than Taylor Swift, and now he’s breaking down the details on his New Heights podcast with his brother Jason Kelce.
First off, it was Travis’ first time at a US Open match, and he was clearly in awe of the star-studded atmosphere. “Every single time I looked to my left or right, I saw a familiar face,” Kelce joked, commenting on how packed the event was with celebs. The tennis action didn’t disappoint either, as he watched Jannik Sinner win his first US Open title, though Travis was rooting for American player Taylor Fritz, who didn’t get the W.

But here’s where it gets good—Travis, known for his big personality, admitted he struggled with the quiet nature of tennis. “I’m not a quiet person,” he laughed, sharing how he wanted to heckle Sinner to give Fritz some mental edge. Thankfully for everyone, including Swift, he kept things respectful and didn’t go full Happy Gilmore mode.
“I’m not a quiet person, never been a quiet person,” Travis said. “I’ve always been the kid at the back of the class when it gets quiet, like say something smart or say something funny or at least try and get a rise out of people.”
He added, “So the entire time, I wanted to heckle the Italian Sinner, the number one player in the world.”
Travis explained that he wanted to get into Sinner’s head “to help my guy Fritzy out, but I played it cool, I played it respectful,” he continued, adding that he’s sure if he heckled the star “like the guy did in Happy Gilmore,” he would have probably been asked to leave.

Speaking of Swift, Travis confirmed their courtside chemistry. The pair, dressed to the nines—Kelce rocking Gucci and Swift in a stunning Zimmermann dress—were seen dancing and enjoying the music during intermissions. They even had a cute moment when Swift tried to help Travis with his “hat hair” after he ditched his bucket hat.
Of course, being the football-obsessed guy he is, Travis wasn’t about to miss any NFL action, even while attending a high-profile tennis event. Fans caught him sneaking a look at football games during the match, and he didn’t deny it. “You think I was gonna miss the 1 o’clock start?” he joked, explaining how he was watching multiple games at once thanks to YouTube TV’s Sunday Ticket.
Kelce managed to “dress the part” and “act the part” at the US Open, but clearly, football is always on his mind—especially with the NFL season in full swing.
