In a shocking incident at Margate Elementary School in Broward County, Florida, a 54-year-old school teacher, Khadijah Tynnettta Muhammad, has been arrested following the release of surveillance footage showing her physically assaulting a kindergartener on October 10. The incident took place in front of other students and staff members, prompting outrage among parents and the community. According to a police report obtained by WPLG, the teacher assaulted a child who was not even one of her students.
The disturbing school security footage captures the child, along with his peers, sitting on the floor in a hallway before class. The situation escalated when the child threw a piece of paper in the direction of his classmates, resulting in Muhammad’s aggressive response. The teacher can be seen on video forcefully grabbing the boy by his left wrist, lifting him off the ground by his arms, and twisting his arms while shoving him across the hallway. She continued to physically manhandle the child, ripping off his jacket and grabbing him by his arms, wrists, shirt, and jacket until the altercation ended. The video, partially obstructed at one point, shows Muhammad apparently grabbing the child around his neck and slamming him to the ground. This entire attack lasted approximately two minutes, as documented by the police.
Subsequently, Khadijah Tynnettta Muhammad was apprehended at her residence in Lauderdale Lakes and charged with child abuse. Parents and members of the community expressed their outrage at the alarming allegations, emphasizing that while children may occasionally act out, it is the responsibility of parents to address disciplinary issues.

Despite the seriousness of the incident and the charges against her, Muhammad remained employed by the school district as of the last update on Friday. The school district issued a statement, confirming its cooperation with law enforcement in response to the situation. The statement also revealed that the teacher involved had been reassigned away from students and the school pending the outcome of the case.
