n a startling incident in Los Angeles, a bus driver was forced to defend herself during an attack by a passenger. This event occurred around 1 p.m. on Sunday, near the intersection of South Central Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard in South Los Angeles, drawing considerable attention from the community and media.

The confrontation began when the suspect, a woman, attempted to board a DASH bus. The DASH service is known for offering free rides across the city. The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT), which operates these buses, reported that the woman tried to pay the driver one dollar, despite the no-cost service. The bus driver declined to accept the money, which seems to have sparked the subsequent altercation.

According to footage captured during the incident, the woman aggressively tried to pry open the protective door that separates the driver from the passengers. Once she managed to open the door, she began to attack the driver, grabbing and punching her physically. In response, the driver is seen on video resisting the attack, kicking at the suspect in an effort to push her away and protect herself. Amidst the struggle, the driver can be heard shouting, “Get off me!” as she fought to fend off the attacker.

The situation escalated until the driver managed to disentangle herself from the crazed woman, quickly boarded the bus again, and secured the door to ensure her safety and that of the passengers. Local police responded to the scene, and the suspect was arrested shortly after the incident. Despite the violent encounter, it was reported that the bus driver did not suffer any serious injuries.

LADOT also told a local news station that they are looking into way to strengthen the barriers between the passengers and the driver.
