A group of drag queens and activists disrupted a faith-based story hour event hosted by actor and producer Kirk Cameron at the Fayetteville Public Library in Arkansas on Friday.

The event was hosted by Brave Books, the publisher of Cameron’s new book, “As You Grow”. Photos shared on Brave Books’ Facebook page show the group of protesters, dressed in black and white, blocking some families and children from seeing the actor.

Cameron described the disruption as “disturbing”, and said that the group included “grown men wearing silly makeup, dressed in skirts and heels, pretending to be women”. He also noted that security measures had to be put in place for the Fayetteville event due to the number of threats they received.

“The small group of protesters, which included some grown men wearing silly makeup, dressed in skirts and heels, pretending to be women, listened to the reading of a kids’ book about God’s view of gender called, ‘Elephants Are Not Birds,’” Cameron told Fox News describing a book that was authored by Laura Perry Smalts, who previously identified as transgender but has since de-transitioned.

One of the protesters, Clint Schnekloth, a pro-LGBT pastor, shared tips on Facebook for those who want to protest Cameron in the future. He suggested that such faith-based events will be “triggering” and that the parents and kids who attend these story hours are in “cults”.

This is not the first time Cameron has faced backlash during his recent story-hour events. CBN’s Faithwire reported that the actor also faced disruption during a reading at the Sumner County Library in northern Tennessee. The director of the library, Allan Morales, was reportedly fired due to his involvement in thwarting Cameron’s event, though Morales said he did not hate anyone.
