Comedian Rob Schneider recently called on parents, coaches, and female athletes to refuse to play against biologically male trans athletes. Schneider was responding to a clip of North Carolina high school female volleyball star Payton McNabb who was spiked in the face by a trans-identifying male player in a game and suffered a concussion and other injuries.

The 59-year-old actor’s tweet was in support of former swimming champion Riley Gaines, who has made headlines for speaking out against making females compete against biological males in sports. Gaines was deprived of an NCAA award by biological male trans-identifying swimmer Lia Thomas.

In the video, McNabb said she still suffers from impaired vision, partial paralysis, constant headaches, anxiety, and depression as a result of the attack. She also said that her ability to learn, retain, and comprehend has been impaired and she requires accommodations at school for testing because of this.

The issue of biologically male trans athletes competing against biologically female athletes in sports has become a contentious issue in recent years. Supporters of trans athletes argue that trans athletes should be allowed to compete in the gender category with which they identify, while opponents argue that it is unfair to biologically female athletes.

The NCAA recently issued a statement saying that all student-athletes should have the opportunity to compete in the sport of their choice and that trans athletes should compete in the gender category they identify with.

The NCAA also said that any decision to allow or disallow trans athletes to compete should be made on an individual basis, taking into account the athlete’s needs and the competitive fairness of the sport.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has also implemented guidelines for the inclusion of trans athletes in the Olympics. According to the guidelines, trans athletes must provide proof of hormone therapy for at least one year before competing in the gender category they identify with.
