Well, in yet another turn of Hollywood drama, Angelina Jolie has officially dropped her two-year legal battle against the Department of Justice and the FBI over documents related to her abuse allegations against her ex-husband Brad Pitt.
This fight, which Jolie had been pursuing under the alias “Jane Doe,” was tied to an incident aboard a private jet in 2016—one that both the FBI and the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services investigated but ultimately chose not to bring charges against Pitt.

So, after years of intense public and private feuding, it seems Jolie is ready to put this chapter behind her. But let’s not forget, this was no minor spat—Jolie had filed a Freedom of Information Act request in 2021 seeking documents from the FBI about their investigation into claims that Pitt had poured red wine and beer on her and one of their children. Pitt has vehemently denied these allegations. The whole saga became public in 2022 when court documents detailed more severe accusations, including claims that Pitt had choked one of their children and struck another. Jolie even accused him of grabbing her by the head during the flight.

Despite the FBI declining to press charges back in 2016, Jolie’s pursuit of justice continued for years. But now, it seems both parties will pay their own legal fees and—at least in the eyes of the courts—move on.
But of course, things are never that simple with this pair. Their custody battle over their six children was already infamous, and now their dispute over their French vineyard, Chateau Miraval, has taken center stage. Jolie sold her 50% stake in the winery in 2023, and naturally, Pitt wasn’t thrilled. He claimed the sale was unlawful, saying Jolie had acted out of malice in the aftermath of their divorce and custody dispute. Jolie’s camp countered that Pitt was the one playing games, alleging that he tried to get her to sign an $8.5 million non-disclosure agreement to silence her about the alleged abuse in exchange for buying her share of the vineyard.
In typical fashion, Jolie’s legal team didn’t hold back. They argued Pitt was trying to use an “outdated” privacy argument to cover up domestic abuse and claimed he had waived any privacy protections when he sued Jolie over the vineyard. Pitt’s team, on the other hand, pushed back, calling Jolie’s demands for personal communications “wide-ranging” and “intrusive,” especially when it came to therapy he had voluntarily undergone after that infamous plane ride.
So, while the FBI battle may be over, don’t expect the fireworks to stop anytime soon. Between custody disputes, vineyard lawsuits, and the endless back-and-forth over who’s the real villain in this saga, Jolie and Pitt’s legal drama isn’t fading from the spotlight anytime soon.
