A former Pennsylvania state lawmaker is facing federal charges after investigators said they discovered more than 100 files containing child s***al abuse material on his personal electronic devices.
Jesse White, a Democrat who represented Pennsylvania’s 46th District in the state House from 2007 to 2015, has been charged with possession, receipt, and distribution of child pornography. According to court documents cited by the New York Post, investigators recovered files from several laptops and hard drives linked to White.
Authorities alleged that some of the children shown in the material were as young as seven years old. The complaint states that White admitted using the dark web to locate and download images and videos. Investigators said he used platforms and software including qBittorrent, Telegram, and the Tor browser, which can make online activity more difficult to trace.
The material allegedly included images and videos involving children between the ages of seven and 15, as well as nude photographs of girls reportedly between eight and 14 years old.
The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip involving suspected homemade child s***al abuse material. One image reportedly showed a boy believed to be five or six years old standing in a shower. Investigators said the photograph was taken in January 2019 using a phone belonging to White. A man wearing a wedding ring could also be seen in the image.
A second tip reportedly involved a nude image of another boy, estimated to be between nine and 11 years old. That photograph was allegedly taken in August 2021.

The complaint also noted that White has two minor sons, a detail that investigators considered significant given the ages and descriptions of the children in the reported images. The charges remain allegations, and White is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless he is convicted in court.
White has faced legal and ethical controversies before. KDKA-TV reported that he surrendered his law license in 2017 after allegations that he took more than $100,000 from clients to support a gambling addiction. The criminal charges connected to those allegations were later dropped.
In 2015, White’s mother also sued him, accusing him of using her identity to obtain a credit card and accumulating roughly $27,000 in debt. KDKA-TV previously reported that White had also used false online identities to criticize and attack political opponents.
The allegations in the current case are deeply disturbing. Crimes involving the s***al exploitation of children cause lasting harm to victims and demand a serious response from the justice system. Anyone convicted of producing, possessing, or distributing child sexual abuse material should face punishment proportionate to the offense, along with restrictions designed to protect children from further harm.
