Blake Allen, a 15-year-old student-athlete, found herself suspended last year after voicing her discomfort with a male student being allowed in the girls’ volleyball locker room. Consequently, her father, Travis Allen, was fired from his position as a middle school soccer coach for defending his daughter and “misgendering” the transgender student.
