Children cried, and staff was shocked when police chased a suspect on foot into a daycare facility in Warren, Ohio, on November 2.
The Warren Police Department said an officer tried to conduct a traffic stop after noticing a man wanted for an assault, but the man refused to pull over. Officers pursued the man until he crashed into a vehicle and continued to flee on foot, police said.
Bodycam footage released by police shows the suspect running into the Precious Times Child Care and Preschool.
“Get him cuffed. Get the kids please, get the kids!” one of the officers is heard yelling, with children crying in the background.
The man runs into a classroom, upsetting several children before officers apprehended him.
Local media said the 39-year-old man, Lamar Mitchell, faced 13 charges, including aggravated burglary, failure to comply, and multiple counts of aggravated menacing.

In the police bodycam video, you can see an officer chase after him into the daycare center, trying to tase him. The video shows what appears to be Mitchell making a shooting motion with his bare hands toward the officer who was pursuing him.
Police say Mitchell crashed into a vehicle in the area of North Park and Washington Street NE and got out of the vehicle.
He faces 13 charges in addition to the original felonious assault, including aggravated burglary, failure to comply, multiple counts of aggravated menacing and traffic offenses.
