In a recent development at Twitter, a second senior executive involved in content and safety issues has left the company amid internal controversies surrounding The Daily Wire’s documentary titled “What Is A Woman?” While Twitter owner Elon Musk was traveling on business overseas, attempts were made to prevent the documentary from being streamed on the platform. This incident has raised concerns about censorship and the handling of controversial content within the social media giant.

According to The Wall Street Journal, A.J. Brown, the head of brand safety and ad quality at Twitter, is no longer with the company. Additionally, Ella Irwin, who led Twitter’s trust and safety department, resigned abruptly on Thursday afternoon. Both departures appear to be linked to the attempts made by Twitter to halt the streaming of The Daily Wire’s documentary. Elon Musk himself confirmed this series of events on his Twitter account.

The Daily Wire, a prominent conservative news outlet, chose to release its groundbreaking 90-minute documentary on Twitter, marking its one-year anniversary and aiming to continue the conversation on the topic of radical transgender ideologies. The film, starring Matt Walsh, was made available for free viewing on Thursday evening at 8 p.m. EST for a 24-hour period. However, Twitter labeled the documentary as “hateful conduct” and restricted its visibility due to alleged instances of “misgendering.” Despite Musk’s assertion on Twitter that it was a mistake, the film was still subjected to limitations upon release.

Early the next day, Elon Musk intervened and removed the restrictions placed on the documentary, allowing Twitter users to engage with it freely. Furthermore, Musk tweeted out the film to his vast following of 140 million followers, significantly boosting its reach and impact. As a result, the tweet featuring the documentary garnered a staggering 80 million views within less than 24 hours, highlighting the influence of Musk’s involvement and the power of his social media presence.
