A new driving incident involving a member of President Joe Biden’s family has come to light, adding to a pattern of motor vehicle-related controversies connected to the Biden family over several decades.
According to court records obtained by DailyMail.com, Sara Biden, the 65-year-old sister-in-law of President Biden, was caught driving nearly 100 miles per hour in a 50 mph zone on a rural Maryland road on the morning of February 16, 2024. The road in question is a two-lane stretch across the Eastern Bay from Washington, D.C., in a relatively quiet area.
Sara ultimately pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of driving at 60 mph in a 50 mph zone. As part of the legal resolution, she was ordered to complete a driver improvement program. The incident has added renewed attention to the broader record of driving-related incidents involving the Biden family.

The Biden family’s history with motor vehicle incidents dates back over five decades. In 1972, then-Senator Biden’s first wife, Neilia, and infant daughter, Naomi, were tragically killed in a car crash in Delaware. In 1999, President Biden’s younger brother, Frank Biden, was found partially liable in a civil case for the death of a pedestrian, Michael Albano, in California. At the time, Frank was a passenger in a rented Jaguar convertible that struck Albano while reportedly traveling at 80 mph in a 35 mph zone. According to court records, Frank encouraged the driver to accelerate moments before the crash.
Frank Biden also faced a DUI charge in 2003. Police documents from the incident describe him as having “red watery eyes, slurred speech, [and a] flushed face,” and noted the presence of an open bottle of vodka in his vehicle. The affidavit stated that he appeared disoriented and was unable to say where he had been.
Hunter Biden, the President’s son, was involved in a separate driving-related incident in 2017, when he crashed and abandoned a rental car in Arizona. Authorities reportedly found a crack pipe and traces of cocaine inside the vehicle, although no charges were filed in connection with the incident.
Sara Biden’s driving citation follows prior scrutiny of her role in financial dealings tied to Hunter Biden. Investigations by the House Oversight Committee and reports from DailyMail.com have outlined her involvement in business ventures involving Chinese energy firm CEFC. Documents indicate that a financial trail from CEFC led through accounts held by Hunter, Sara, and her husband, Jim Biden, before reaching Joe Biden.
Communications published in previous investigations include a WhatsApp message from Hunter Biden in August 2017, in which he reportedly demanded $10 million from CEFC and stated his father was present during the conversation. Financial records show that after an initial $5 million investment from CEFC, $400,000 was transferred into Hunter’s entity, Owasco, P.C., followed by a $150,000 transfer into Jim and Sara Biden’s account. Weeks later, Sara Biden wrote a $40,000 check to Joe Biden, following a $50,000 cash withdrawal from her account.
In a separate incident the same year, Sara’s daughter Caroline Biden was charged with DUI after crashing into a tree in Pennsylvania. She spent 20 days in rehabilitation following the arrest.
Frank Biden did not attend the civil proceedings following the 1999 fatal crash, but records indicate that he later reached a financial settlement with the victim’s family, though the terms were not publicly disclosed.
Just 20 minutes before leaving office while he was in the Rotunda at the Capitol, President Biden pardoned his family, his last act as president.
The “Biden Crime Family” was never just a slogan. It’s the truth.
