Republican Senator Lindsey Graham faced a tumultuous reception from supporters of former President Donald Trump as he spoke at a rally in his home state of South Carolina on Saturday. The crowd booed and gave him a thumbs down as he left the stage, showing their disapproval of his stance on Trump and other issues.

In his speech, Graham emphasized the importance of unity within the Republican Party and rallied support for Donald Trump, stating that he believed Trump would be the Republican nominee in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. He warned the crowd about the potential consequences of a Democratic victory in 2024, claiming that they would pack the Supreme Court, grant statehood to Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., abolish the electoral college, and fundamentally transform the nation.

Despite expressing support for Trump and his policies, Graham faced continuous booing and criticism from the crowd. This was evident from the moment he took the stage, with the audience’s displeasure drowning out his initial remarks. Graham attempted to appease the crowd by highlighting the accomplishments of Pickens County, including its high number of Medal of Honor winners per capita.

Even when the crowd momentarily cheered Graham’s statements about Trump’s presidency, they quickly returned to shouting him down. It was clear that a significant portion of the audience remained dissatisfied with Graham and his positions.

Former President Donald Trump also made an appearance at the rally and tried to rally support for Graham, acknowledging the mixed reaction among the crowd. Trump praised Graham for his support, especially when it came to securing liberal votes for Trump’s policies. Nevertheless, Trump’s attempts to endorse Graham were met with further booing.

Lindsey Graham, who has served as South Carolina’s senator since 2003, has faced increasing criticism from Trump supporters over the years due to his positions on various issues. In 2020, he faced backlash for his comments about the presidential election, with some calling him a “traitor.” Additionally, his support for Ukraine’s defense efforts in the Russia-Ukraine war has not resonated well with Trump’s base.
