Rapper Snoop Dogg has proclaimed his newfound love and respect for former President Trump. Known for his provocative lyrics and advocacy for “social justice”, Snoop Dogg has had a complete change of heart when it comes to the controversial politician.
In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Snoop Dogg, 52, gushed over Trump, saying he “ain’t done nothing wrong” and has “done only great things” for him. This comes as a surprise, considering the rapper’s history of vehemently condemning the former president and his supporters.
“Donald Trump?…. He ain’t done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris,” Snoop Dogg told The Sunday Times.
But what sparked this sudden change of tune? It seems to be Trump’s pardoning of Michael “Harry-O” Harris, an associate of Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight, and founder of the label’s parent company, Godfather Entertainment. Harris, who was imprisoned on charges of conspiracy and attempted murder for over three decades, was one of the last pardons granted by Trump before leaving office. Snoop Dogg, who was famously signed by Death Row Records before leaving later in his career, praised the former president’s decision at the time.
But is this really the only reason for Snoop Dogg’s newfound admiration for Trump? One can’t help but wonder if it’s purely based on gratitude or if there’s something more behind the rapper’s change of heart. After all, just a few years ago, Snoop Dogg released a controversial music video for his song “Lavender,” in which he depicted Trump as a clown and blatantly shot him in the head. And let’s not forget his statements in 2020, where he told XXL Magazine, “Donald Trump is a f—ing weirdo. If you voted for him, I don’t have no problem with that. But if you’re still with him, f— you.”

Snoop Dogg’s support for Trump is a complete 180 from his previous stance. And while he claims to have “nothing but love and respect” for the former president now, one can’t help but wonder how genuine this newfound admiration truly is.

In 2012, he made headlines for releasing a list on Instagram explaining why he would not support then-presidential candidate Mitt Romney, but instead, was throwing his support behind Barack Obama. When asked if he would create a similar list if the race was between Trump and Joe Biden, he replied, “I may have to…because there are mixed views on that, so I want to see what the people say.”
