In a recent interview, renowned actor and comedian Rob Schneider publicly voiced his disapproval of country music star Garth Brooks’ involvement in a beer controversy. Schneider urged Brooks to “just shut up” and refrain from getting entangled in such matters in the future.
The controversy stems from Brooks’ appearance on Billboard’s Country Live in Conversation, during which he made comments regarding the selection of beer at his upcoming bar. While Brooks asserted that his establishment would serve every brand of beer, he also indirectly addressed other country music artists who had chosen to exclude Bud Light due to its paid marketing association with a controversial transgender influencer.
“Yes, we’re going to serve every brand of beer,” Brooks said. “We just are. It’s not our decision to make. If you come into this house, love one another. If you’re an a**hole, there are plenty of other places on lower Broadway.”
“In my existence, one a**hole can turn the whole tide down there,” he added. “My thing is, let’s create a place that you feel safe in.”
Schneider, in an interview on Fox Nation’s “Woke Up in America,” expressed his belief that Brooks should remain silent and distance himself from such debates. The actor suggested that Brooks should adopt the stance of having no involvement in the beer choices made for his restaurant, emphasizing that it would be a prudent business practice.
“I think next time, he’s going to stay out of it, isn’t he? I think Garth Brooks, next time, is going to shut his mouth, and he’s going to pretend like ‘I don’t have anything to do with what beer is chosen in my restaurant,’” Schneider said. “I think the culture is in a very weird little place of hypersensitivity one way or the other. And I think that’s why most people shut their mouths.”
“I mean, just from a business standpoint, just shut up, say I have nothing to do with it,” he said.
According to Schneider, the prevailing hypersensitivity in today’s culture necessitates caution when expressing opinions on controversial matters. He argued that most individuals choose to remain silent to avoid inviting unnecessary criticism and backlash.
The actor’s remarks touched upon the broader issue of the cultural climate, suggesting that society has become increasingly sensitive, making it challenging for public figures to navigate potentially contentious subjects.
