Rose Montoya, a prominent trans activist who identifies as a woman, has issued an apology following a controversial incident at a White House Pride Month event. Montoya briefly went topless during the celebration, an act that has been condemned by the Biden administration as “inappropriate and disrespectful.”

A three-minute video clip posted on TikTok on Friday captured Montoya expressing regret for her actions. In the video, she acknowledged that in a moment of what she described as “fleeting and overwhelming trans joy,” she made a decision that was unbecoming of a guest of the President at such an esteemed event. Although Montoya did not explicitly state the nature of her actions, she recognized the impact they had and took responsibility for them.

Throughout the video, Montoya offered apologies to various LGBT groups, acknowledging the potential harm caused by her behavior. She also revealed that her family and friends have faced harassment following the incident, expressing concern for their well-being. Montoya concluded her statement by extending an apology to the President, the White House, and the entire nation. She emphasized that she never intended to create a situation that would result in harassment or harm to herself or others.

Montoya further expressed her disappointment that her “little moment of trans joy” had been weaponized by individuals who oppose her cause. She called upon the media to respect the privacy of her family and friends during this challenging time.

This incident occurred in the context of several trans activists going topless at the White House Pride Month event. The Biden administration swiftly responded by issuing a statement that denounced the stunt as “inappropriate and disrespectful.” As a consequence, those who participated in the display will not be invited to future events.
